If you use their resources the right way and talk to them, it really helps every step of the way." – LATIN GRADUATE College Counseling at Latin At Latin, we know that students are most satisfied with their college choice when they've spent time discovering their interests, exploring a variety of possibilities and gaining a greater understanding of their academic and personal strengths while also taking responsibility for their application process. The college counseling staff helps students evaluate college information and present their qualifications well to colleges and universities. We support students as they examine their educational and social needs and make sound decisions. Our Process Freshman and Sophomore Years • Informal and formal grade-level meetings with students and parents • Testing information and guidance • Panel discussions about planning for and paying for a college education Junior Year • Informal and formal meetings with students and parents • College counseling group seminar classes, scheduled into each student's program • Regular individual student and family meetings with counselors to develop lists, discuss goals and research colleges • College research and visits by students and parents Senior Year • Summer application workshops • Informal and formal grade-level meetings with students and parents • College seminar classes continue during the fall • Individual counseling with students and parents • Extensive support for students through the application and decision process • Ongoing advocacy on behalf of all seniors (letters of recommendation, regular communication with college admissions offices)
