19 LATIN MAGAZINE » SUMMER 2019 ICE HOCKEY Amherst College Kate Pohl FIELD HOCKEY Tufts University Natalia Smith SQUASH Naval Academy Millen Randell ROWING Dartmouth College MacKenzie Guynn SOCCER Williams College Michael Davis BOYS AND GIRLS TRACK In 1901, the Latin's track team brought home the first athletic award in school history, and this season, girls track earned second place at the state meet. Highlights from this season included a conference championship for the girls and a second-place team finish for the boys. ese five boys represented Latin at the state meet: Harry Wood-Prince '22, Peter Bernhardt '21, Peter Cahillane '22, Matthew Bellick '19 and Pekky Nzegbuna '19. Bellick set a new school record in the pole vault and earned all-state honors. e girls team showed the rest of the state why they should "Fear e Legion!" ese six fierce ladies earned all-state accomplishments: Ava Parekh '22 won the 3200 and came in second in the 1600 and ninth in the 4x400; Marianne Mihas '21 won the 800 and the 1600 and came in ninth in the 4x400; Bea Parr '21, Olivia Syftestad '21, Clare Hardiman '20 and McKenna Fellows '22 were third in the 4x800; Syftestad and Fellows were also part of the all state 4x400. In addition, the ladies set new school records in the 800, 1600, 3200, 4x800 and 4x400. Tori Cohen '19 set new records in the shot and discus. Josie Daab '21 set a new school record in the pole vault.
