The 2018-2019 school year was an incredible one for the photography club, with all of our seniors holding senior art exhibitions for not only photography, but a multitude of different media types. Over the course of this year, we journeyed on local field trips and hosted renowned photographer Jackson Patterson's work in Gallery 2. We found his photos series "Recollected Memories" inspirational as it showcased a method of creating narrative by presenting two disparate pictures as a single image. Additionally, we focused our club time on portraiture, macro, and light-trails/exposure photography, exploring different methods and their results throughout the year. We hosted our first day-long Blue and Orange photoshoot in our new Learning Commons to add to some selfie fun to Latin's Winter Spirit Week. Finally, many of our members worked tirelessly as yearbook photographers throughout the year and we thank them immensely for their support of Latin's Yearbook. VIDI is the culmination of photography at Latin. Every exhibited student and more have found their calling through Latin's photography classes and numerous ISP opportunities over their time at Latin. They have since followed that passion for observing life through a lens over Project Weeks, breaks, free time, and taking the time to do what they love. Each year VIDI is a celebration of that passion, and we all are incredibly grateful to Ms. Ross for helping us to discover and pursue our passion during our time at Latin. Next year we hand off the reins of both VIDI and Photo Club to Emilio Alvarez '20 and Cole Lindemann '21. We are incredibly excited to see where they will take the Photo Club and VIDI over the coming years!
