Philip Demeulenaere, Miles Baker and Julius Reiner, all at Brown University, snapped a picture together after Philip won a thrilling five-set squash match in December. 44 45 43 FACULTY ALUMNI Judy Kritzberg Steve Sommers James Berger Koch, former economics faculty member at Latin, passed away on August 4, 2018. Jim earned his B.S. in political science from Loyola University, his J.D. from Chicago- Kent College of Law, and served as an assistant state's attorney before founding the law firm of Gardiner Koch Weisberg & Wrona. He later earned an M.S. in education from Northwestern University. He served as an adjunct professor at Northwestern University's School of Law and its Graduate School of Education and Policy. He argued twice before the U.S. Supreme Court, and was past president of the New Trier School Board and served on the Executive Committee and Board of Governors for the North Suburban Special Education District. We extend our condolences to his wife, Susan Hatfield Koch, M.D; his children; and all of his family and friends. Basia Miller writes: "anks for sending the tempting invitation to Latin's Homecoming weekend. I wish I could make it and see some of my old students, '63 through '68; '68 especially, since they'll be celebrating their 50th! In May, I celebrated the Paris launch of a book by Francine Caron that reprints the texts of 10 long poems with my translations. ey were originally individual books, each with original art.
