I have found that every student gets the chance to realize they have the skill to write and tell a wonderful story — it is a great experience." – English teacher Kate Lorber-Crittenden Twelfth Grade English: Telling Tales After a semester of exploring voice, craft and structure, students Kate Lorber-Crittenden and Lori Kloehn's Writer's Workshop class step off the written page and use their literal voices to engage with an audience in the oldest and most authentic way possible—storytelling. Scott Whitehair, an established and prolific local storyteller, visits the class in to provide tips and tricks of the trade. The stories have to be true; they have to be personal to the teller; they can only be five minutes long; and, finally, the teller is not allowed to rely on notes. This year, students voted on the themes of habits, discomfort, happy accidents or things that keep you up at night. For the sixth year in a row, the class culminated with an evening event where the best storytellers in the class perform for an audience of friends and family. A panel of judges made up of Latin faculty rate the stories on creativity, originality and delivery. WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT LATIN?
