Athletics Spring Season Highlights GIRLS SOCCER e 2018 edition of Latin girls soccer contributed one of the best overall seasons to the storied program's history. In addition to a 20-2 record against a very tough schedule of opponents, the Romans were Independent School League (ISL) conference champions for the fourth consecutive year and IHSA regional champs for the fth year in a row. e Romans also added both the PepsiCo Showdown (largest girls soccer tournament in the USA) and the prestigious Chicago Cup championships to their accomplishments. Eleanor Pontikes '18 was named MVP of the Chicago Cup tournament. Lily Keiderling '18, Charlotte Cronister '19 and Maya Edwards '20 received All-Sectional honors. Keiderling was also named the ISL Player-of-the-Year and was an IHSSCA All-State player, and Maggie Marrinson '18 was named ISL Goalkeeper of the Year. Tom Bower received the IHSSCA Sectional Coach-of-the-Year award and won his 300th career game in girls soccer. Girls track won the ISL championship and the IHSA sectional championship, with two relays and three individuals advancing to state. Matthew Bellick '19 received All-State Honors in the pole vault. e track and eld coaching sta received the Independent School League Coach-of-the-Year award.
