FACULTY ALUMNI Judith Kritzberg, Steve Sommers 15 Longtime nurse and registrar at Latin for more than 25 years, Barbara Louise Brown, passed away on March 8, 2018 at her residence. A native of Chicago, Barbara was the daughter of the late Leroy and Florence Griep Atkinson. Barbara was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. William Clay Brown, who passed away on April 8, 2014. We extend our condolences to her daughter, Jennifer Brodersen '72. 16 Nancy Torpe Elmer died on March 19, 2018. Nancy was a graduate of Principia College with a master's degree in education from the National College of Education. She taught for 32 years Latin School where, among other accomplishments, she created the Geography Hall of Fame. Every student who had Miss Elmer will undoubtedly remember her "Memory Map" project! Nancy loved to travel and made numerous trips with relatives and friends to England, France, Italy and destinations within the United States, primarily New England. She was a member of the Antiquarian Society of the Art Institute of Chicago and belonged to the First Church of Christ Scientist in Winnetka. We extend our condolences to her family, colleagues and former students. 17 Former Lower School faculty member Jeanne Sollitt Robertson passed away this spring. After leaving Latin, Jeanne transitioned into educational publishing at McDougal, Littell and Company. She also was the executive director of One-to-One Learning Center in Wilmette for many years. After moving to the San Francisco Bay area, Jeanne joined the University of California San Francisco Board of Overseers and was a supporter and advocate of psychiatry and the neurosciences. We extend our condolences to her sons, Tom '77 and James '77. 18 Former faculty member Sheila A. Sullivan (Buralli), passed away on April 23, 2018 in Peoria. She was born on July 10, 1936 to omas and Catherine (Walsh) Sullivan in Chicago. We extend our condolences to her children: Brian Buralli '76, Sheryl Buralli Kurtis '77, Sheila Buralli '79 and Ellen Buralli '80. 17 18 15 16 ROMAN CONNECTIONS 44
